Duties and responsibilities
- Always represent JDK in a professional manner and report any concerns to the supervisor.
- Maintain excellent communication/ business relationships with all clients, customers and stakeholders; respond to customer concerns in a prompt and efficient manner while reporting any issues or incidents to the supervisors immediately.
- Lead and support all work activities that are required for the test and treatment program. This includes shoveling, testing, treating, meshing and managing data. This also includes managing all materials and equipment used daily on the work sites to ensure success of the program.
- Lead team’s work quality, quota planning as per the program.
- Ensure reporting staff are supporting safety tail boards that identify/mitigate hazards that are part of daily work activities.
- Ensure crews fully understand their daily roles/responsibilities and safety requirements while on the job which includes understanding of all hazards, mitigation plan and emergency response plans as per daily job planning.
- Complete random safety audits on crews throughout the program while reporting information to the Managers and Safety Coordinator as required.
- Full understanding and adhere to JDK safety policies and procedures as well as where to find the appropriate info as needed.
- Willing to work away from home in western Canada areas for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to travel frequently to assigned customer sites.
- Manage/maintain and service all tools/equipment/vehicles required that are used daily.
- Drive the company truck, trailer, ATV, UTV, and Argos with care and attention follow JDK safety rules and procedures.
- Diagnose and fix minor problems, schedule/coordinate major work as needed and understand/ communicate with other leads on how to properly maintain equipment.
- Maintain records of services performed.
- Adhere to all JDK policies and procedures (Vehicle, safety, correspondence, housekeeping) Vehicles/equip to be organized and kept clean to ensure proper housekeeping for all individuals working together.
- Ensure bi-weekly inspection of the truck and equipment is completed.
- May be required to deliver hotshot requests and install equipment on site as needed.
- Upon supervisor’s request, you will be required to work in the shop occasionally
- Other duties as assigned by Program managers.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- 4 years’ experience in pole treating.
- Leadership skills
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driver’s abstract
- H2S Alive when required
- Standard First Aid with CPR an asset
- Ability to haul a trailer, an asset
- Must have steel-toed work boots CSA rated
- Work in various elemental conditions, e.g. rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- May be required to perform repetitive heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
- Mechanical aptitude, experience with a variety of hand tools.
- ATV experience preferred (ATV training is provided)
Education and qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Schedule:
- 10 days on, 4 days off within Manitoba
Licence/Certification:
- Driver's License (required)
