Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately and safely, counseling patients, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the overall clinical and business operations of the pharmacy. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications
- Check for drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and dosage accuracy
- Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and interactions
- Provide clinical recommendations to physicians and other healthcare providers as needed
- Administer immunizations and other authorized clinical services (e.g., medication reviews, health screenings), where applicable
- Supervise and support pharmacy assistants/technicians and oversee prescription workflow
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial/state, and regulatory college requirements (e.g., record-keeping, controlled substances, privacy legislation)
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Manage inventory of medications, including ordering, controlled substance tracking, and expiry monitoring
- Process insurance and third-party claims as needed
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve concerns professionally
- Stay current on new medications, therapies, clinical guidelines, and best practices
- Participate in the day-to-day business operations of the pharmacy, including customer service and, where applicable, retail management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy environment in accordance with regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active pharmacist license in the province of practice.
- Bonus: Can speak Hindi, Gujarati or Tamil
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
- Skills in medication administration and patient care are essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education.
Pay: $50.00-$55.00 per hour
