Term: Initial 2–3 month contract, with potential to extend
Role Summary
Orca is looking for a Contract iOS App Developer to help advance our mobile app experience for connected water monitoring and building operations.
This is a hands-on contract role for someone who can move quickly, write clean production-quality code, and work well with a disciplined UX team. The initial need is expected to be approximately 2–3 months, with the final scope depending on progress, fit, and project needs.
Strong iOS experience is required. Cross-platform Android/iOS experience is heavily preferred.
Key Responsibilities
● Build and improve iOS mobile app features for Orca’s connected water monitoring platform.
● Work closely with UX, product, software, and hardware teams to implement clear, polished user experiences.
● Support app workflows related to device setup, monitoring, alerts, customer data, and field operations.
● Write clean, maintainable code suitable for production use.
● Help troubleshoot, test, and refine mobile app functionality across real customer and deployment scenarios.
● Contribute practical feedback on mobile architecture, usability, and implementation tradeoffs.
Qualifications
● Proven experience building production iOS applications.
● Strong experience with Swift and modern iOS development practices.
● Experience working closely with UX/design teams and implementing polished user interfaces from structured design inputs.
● Ability to work collaboratively with product managers, designers, backend developers, and technical stakeholders.
● Strong understanding of mobile app architecture, APIs, authentication, app performance, and release readiness.
● Practical, hands-on approach with clear communication and good technical judgment.
Advantageous Attributes
● Cross-platform Android/iOS development experience.
● Experience with Flutter, React Native, Kotlin, or other mobile frameworks.
● Experience with IoT, connected devices, Bluetooth, provisioning, telemetry, or field-service workflows.
● Experience working with startups or fast-moving product teams.
● Experience helping improve mobile development practices, testing, and release processes.
Pay: $5,000.00-$8,000.00 per month
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Burnaby, BC
