Check The Deck is growing, and we're looking for a motivated, experienced Working Team Lead to join our team.
This isn't just another carpentry position. We're looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, leads by example, and enjoys building high-quality outdoor living spaces while mentoring others.

What You'll Build
Our projects include:
- Custom decks
- Pergolas
- Privacy walls
- Railings
- Fences
- Interlock and backyard living spaces
- Outdoor structures and specialty carpentry
Every project is unique, and quality is our standard.
Your Role
As a Working Team Lead, you'll be responsible for leading a two-person crew while remaining fully involved in the work each day.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and motivating a crew of two.
- Working alongside your team throughout the day.
- Reading plans and ensuring projects are built correctly.
- Coordinating daily activities to keep projects on schedule.
- Monitoring labour hours and productivity.
- Communicating regularly with ownership regarding progress, material requirements, scheduling, and any concerns.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized job site.
- Ensuring workmanship meets Check The Deck's quality standards.
- Solving problems before they become delays.
- Delivering an exceptional customer experience on every project.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of carpentry or outdoor construction experience.
- Previous experience leading a crew.
- Strong knowledge of deck construction and outdoor structures.
- Ability to read drawings and construction plans.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Comfortable using smartphones and apps for daily communication.
- Valid driver's licence with reliable transportation.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality.
