Job description:
As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide a training to the budding Occupational Therapist covering the below topics.
Overview of safe patient handling principles
- Bed mobility (repositioning in bed, lying sitting position)
- Manual sit-to-stand transfers (without equipment)
- Manual lift from floor to wheelchair transfer (2 or more people)
- Ambulation/walking (1- & 2-person), with walker
- Mechanical sit-to-stand transfers (with equipment)
- Sling application & removal
- Proper use of sit-stand lift, including client requirements
- Proper use of standing/rising aid, incl. client requirements
- Mechanical lifts (bed wheelchair)
- Sling application & removal (in chair, in bed)
- Proper use of passive floor lift
- Techniques to be demonstrated with staff participating as resident and/or 2nd caregiver. Time allowed for staff questions and discussion.
