Have you never heard of Mysis shrimp? Mysis shrimp is an invasive plankton harming the fish populations in Okanagan Lake. These little shrimp were introduced by the government as a food source for the Kokanee Salmon but things got out of hand... their population exploded... and are not competing with the baby salmon in the lake for the tiny feed organisms.
SO WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH A JOB OPPORTUNITY?
At Piscine Energetics we are removing these invasive “pests” and turn them into aquarium fish food!
YUP! You heard that right…. We are transforming invasive plankton into sustainable fish food right here in the Okanagan!

THE JOB: Mysis Shrimp Packaging Team Member Position:
We are the immediate need to fill 3 positions in our packaging facility located in Vernon (Coldstream).
The job requires individuals to work in a team based environment (production assembly line) accurately, weighing, packaging then loading freezers with product then counting and boxing finished frozen products.
What to expect:
- Repetitive manual labor including opening bags, filling bags, flattening and freezing bags, packing, and labeling boxes
- Working in a face paced environment
- Lifting boxes and bins of shrimp weighing up to 60lbs each
- on your feet for the entire shift
- Safety boots/shoes required
- Clean your work station/production area before end the shift

- Work consistently at a fast pace (i.e. lollygaggers need not apply)
- Team player, able to change stations to help out where needed
- Take pride in your work, with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast passed environment
Job Type: Full-time
