Position Title: Youth Developmental Support Worker

Position Summary:
The Youth Developmental Support Worker provides direct support, supervision, and guidance to youth (ages between 11 and 17) with developmental, behavioral, and emotional challenges in a structured and sometimes aggressive environment. The role focuses on promoting safety, personal growth, and positive behavior through consistent care, crisis intervention, and supportive relationship-building.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Youth Support and Supervision
- Provide direct supervision and emotional support to youth in care, ensuring safety and adherence to program routines.
- Engage youth in daily activities, life skills training, recreation, and community participation.
- Model positive behavior and interpersonal communication in all interactions.
2. Behavior Management and Crisis Intervention
- Respond to behavioral outbursts and aggressive incidents using approved non-violent crisis intervention techniques (e.g., CPI, UMAB, or TCI).
- Maintain a calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approach during escalations.
- Complete incident reports and participate in debriefings to support continuous improvement and safety planning.
3. Program Implementation
- Follow individualized care and behavior support plans developed by the multidisciplinary team.
- Support therapeutic interventions and ensure consistency in implementing youth goals and treatment strategies.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
4. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external partners regarding youth needs and safety concerns.
5. Health and Safety
- Ensure a safe and secure living environment by following agency policies and occupational health and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular room and environmental checks to minimize risk.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or unsafe behaviors immediately.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with youth in residential or high-risk settings.
- Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR, and Trauma-Informed Care preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain composed, empathetic, and professional under pressure.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and shift rotations.

Contract length: 4 days
Pay: $33.00-$35.00 per hour
