The Team Leader works with the front-line staff, overnight staff, and management to ensure consistency of service delivery and practice. The team leader supports the staff and brings any concerns or ideas to the house manager/Directors. They will maintain and oversee staff concerns, youth program activities, and ensure all housekeeping duties are being met by staff. In this position you will lead a team of staff who will assist up to five (5) youth ages 12-19 years with their daily activities and provide them with their basic needs. Overall, the Team leader will be responsible for providing guidance, instruction, and leadership skills to inspire the team to perform at their optimum.
*Preferred experience with high risk youth and previous leadership experience
Major Responsibilities
A. Supervise front line staff to ensure programming and service plans are implemented
B. Managing Day to Day employee issues and ensuring all documentations are completed
by staff
C. Effective communication with the interprofessional team to ensure daily flow and
management of youth
D. Buy groceries for the house and oversee the food list
E. Manage all Medical administration supervising
F. Manage daily schedule and activities for the youths
G. Manage and maintain receipts/ petty cash for the group home
A. Administration
● Completion of accurate written daily documentation (logbook entries, contact
notes, incident reports, med binder, etc.)
● Creation and implementation of new documentation associated with group home
daily activities
● Assisting with Accreditation
● Weekly budgeting
● Schedule and attend ISP and Quarterly pre-planning and review meetings.
● Participate in on-going program development
● Liaise with guardians, family members, and others involved in supporting the
child/youth
● Clear communication and timely updates with guardians and relevant family.
● Orientate and train new Team Leaders.
● Ensure staffing schedules are within approved budgets and meet the needs of the
children/youth
● Monitor and track staff attendance in the homes in accordance with policy.
● Monitor probationary and performance appraisals.
● Follow up on coaching and/or disciplinary warnings as required.
● Agency On Call personnel on a rotational basis as needed
B. Client Support
● Deliver Services in a client-centered, strength-based approach consistent with
agency policies
● Connect with and develop helping relationships with children and youth
● Role model life skills, social skills, communication skills and conflict resolution
● Support youth to achieve goals as defined on their individual goal plans
● Attending appointments with the children as needed
C. Health and Safety
● Maintain a safe, Secure environment
● Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home
● Ensure youth are aware of and understand house rules and respond accordingly
● Deliver Services in a client centered, strength-based approach consistent with
HFSL.
Qualifications:
● A degree or diploma in Health or Human Services Field
● At Least 2-3 years’ experience working with people with disabilities or medically fragile
youth who may have high behavior needs.
● Supervisory experience considered an asset
● Problem solving skills, with good solutions
● Able to provide delegation, negotiation, and leadership skills
● Excellent planning and organizational skills
● Flexibility and openness to change
● A vehicle and valid Operator’s License are required
● Able to provide a clear Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child
Intervention Record Check
Preferred Qualifications:
● Certification in Suicide Intervention and Crisis intervention Prevention
● Experience working in residential programs
