Your Opportunity
Business Center 1235 is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager and Business Development Specialist. This role blends senior-level technical environmental planning expertise with a strong focus on business development. You will play a key role in supporting growth initiatives across sectors while acting as a senior environmental planner on complex projects.
This position reports to the Environmental Services Prairies and Territories Growth Lead, and works closely with the growth team, project managers, and technical teams to advance pursuits, strengthen client relationships and deliver high-quality work.
Your Key Responsibilities
Business Development and Market Growth
- Lead and support business development activities across multiple sectors, including opportunity identification, client engagement, and pursuit strategy development.
- Contribute to go/no-go decisions, proposal development, and interview preparation, including technical approaches, scope development, and resourcing strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, approval agencies, Indigenous communities, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with BC leadership, growth leaders, and project managers to align growth efforts with regional and business center strategies.
- Represent Stantec externally through industry organizations, conferences, and client-facing events.
Project Management and Project Delivery
- Serve as a senior project manager on assigned projects, providing technical leadership and oversight.
- Support project teams through planning, permitting, regulatory approvals, and stakeholder engagement.
- Mentor and support intermediate and junior staff, contributing to technical excellence and professional development.
- Perform billable project work consistent with experience, with an expected utilization target of 50%.
- Uphold and enhance Stantec’s reputation as a trusted advisor and high-quality service provider.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Work collaboratively with BC leadership and Team Leads to support staff development, mentorship, and retention.
- Provide informal coaching and guidance to project managers and technical staff as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tools, and best practices related to planning and business development.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Demonstrated experience in environmental planning, including regulatory and permitting processes, across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven ability to support business development activities, including client engagement, proposal development, and pursuit strategies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, regulators, Indigenous groups, and internal teams.
- Experience managing or contributing to complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Ability to influence, build consensus, and drive positive outcomes.
- Willingness to travel as required to support projects and business development activities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences, planning, geography, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in environmental planning, consulting, or a related field.
Familiarity with Stantec’s Environmental Services offerings and client base is considered an asset.
Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng., RPP, RPBio, PAg, PMP) is considered an asset.
Typical office-based environment working with computers for extended periods. Field work may be required and could involve exposure to varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and move items or equipment up to 50 lbs may be required.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
