JOB SUMMARY
**THIS IS AN AFTERNOON SHIFT 4:00PM-12:30AM**
The primary function of the job is to maintain the plating and other chemical solutions according to specifications in order to produce circuit boards that have been through the different chemical processes. To aid in the neutralization and treatment of spent chemicals so that they can be disposed of safely and legally in accordance with established manufacturing/waste treatment procedures/processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH PERFORMING THE JOB
- Maintains plating and other chemical solutions to the require specifications/concentrations in each bath/tank on a daily basis
- Analyses solutions and inputs record keeping on the computer on a daily basis
- Makes up standard solutions for lab analysis on a weekly basis
- Work area inspected and cleaned daily, i.e. solution spills
- Meets with production/quality personnel to help solve manufacturing problems
- Observes safety rules for handling various chemicals, checks machine vents to ensure air vents are working especially when working with ammonia
- To take training for and become part of the Spill Response Team
- Aids in cleaning up of chemical spills
- Checks temperature of water at etchback line on a daily basis
- Checks to ensure all tanks are labeled properly
- Checks MSDS to ensure all required MSDS are available for all Plating Processes and Waste Treatment
- Checks MSDS to ensure they are current. Obtain MSDS from HR if required.
- Report to HR any MSDS that are no longer used
- Makes production repairs
- Occasionally provides instruction to co-workers; may check the work of others
- Ensures the confidentiality of information recorded on lab computer
- Assist company Chemist as required
- May replace operator when required
- Follow all company and legislative requirements
SKILL/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PEFORM THE JOB
- Lab Technician College diploma or equivalent
- A mechanical aptitude is essential
- Good reading, writing, and arithmetic abilities are required in reading work orders, calculating chemical addition for different processes, set up and operate machines
- Must be able to cooperate and work effectively with others to ensure efficient and smooth operations
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB
- A physically demanding job as considerable standing, bending, and lifting is required in operation of machinery; frequent physical activities include carrying, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, grasping; the pace is controlled by machines and production scheduling
- Must be able to respond to tight production deadlines during regular and peak periods and to last minute demands and requirements; many short-term competing deadlines.
- Many tedious and repetitious activities and movements requiring constant intense concentration and attention to detail
- Frequent periods of intense concentration is required when handling hazardous chemicals, calculating and adding correct amounts to tanks, watching the time products in the solution, checking the lineup and speed of machines.
- Subject to all types of deadlines, both regular and predictable and those that are special and change, and may be competing; must be able to respond quickly to resolve problems and to internally determine requirements involving numerous competing and often conflicting deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB
- Work involves a high degree of visual attention involving constant attention to detail when operating machines, inspecting output and handling chemicals
- Works on the shop floor, exposed to dirty/dusty, hot/cold, noisy, oily/greasy, odorous conditions, additionally exposed to chemical substances and spills
- Subject to many interruptions, deadlines and varying work schedule
- Occasionally required to work overtime
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
