The Opportunity
As a licensed M1/M2 AME with one or more years of experience on large aircraft, you're ready for a role that gives you real autonomy, a diverse fleet to work on, and colleagues who take safety as seriously as you do.
This role is intended to be resident-based. In some cases, rotational schedules may be considered depending on operational needs and business requirements. For employees on rotation, Summit will provide all flights, accommodation, and per diem.
What you'll do
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fleet aircraft in accordance with Transport Canada standards of airworthiness and company procedures.
Sign maintenance releases and accept responsibility for work performed, in accordance with your licence privileges.
Troubleshoot aircraft systems and diagnose complex defects, applying sound judgement and technical skill.
Ensure all replacement parts are inspected and properly certified prior to installation.
Maintain accurate and thorough maintenance records, defect reports, and technical logs.
Participate in Summit Air's Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Assurance programs.
Mentor apprentice AMEs and junior technicians where applicable.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment in the hangar and on the line.
Support the Maintenance Controller in planning and scheduling maintenance activities.
Qualifications
Required
Valid Transport Canada M1 and/or M2 AME licence.
Minimum one year of experience working on large, multi-engine aircraft.
Strong working knowledge of aircraft systems, including airframes, powerplants, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and environmental systems.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from maintenance manuals, airworthiness directives, and technical documentation.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote or rotational environment.
Valid driver's licence.
Preferred
Experience on multi-engine aircraft types, particularly the Avro RJ, ATR, Dash 8 (DHC-8), or Dornier 228 (D228)
Canadian Armed Forces aviation technician (or equivalent) background, military-equivalent credentials are welcomed and will be considered.
Experience working in northern, remote, or rotational aviation environments.
Corrosion control experience and knowledge.

What Will Your first 90 days Look Like?
Week 1–2: Structured onboarding at our Yellowknife base, including SMS orientation, base familiarisation, fleet introduction, and introductions to the maintenance and operations teams.
Weeks 3–6: Supervised line familiarisation on Summit Air's aircraft types, with mentorship from a senior AME.
By 90 days: Full integration into the maintenance schedule, with autonomy appropriate to your licence and experience.
