The New Mummy Company has been supporting Canadian families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period for over 15 years. We believe every family deserves compassionate, evidence-based care during the transition to life with a new baby.
As our Toronto and the wider GTA team continues to grow, we are looking for experienced, professional Newborn Care Providers who are passionate about supporting families during the earliest weeks of a baby's life.
This position is ideal for professionals with hands-on newborn experience, including:
- Registered Nurses (RN)
- Registered Practical Nurses (RPN)
- Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
- Registered Midwives
- Certified Postpartum Doulas
- Newborn Care Specialists (NCS)
We also welcome internationally educated healthcare professionals with recent newborn or postpartum experience.
About the Role
Most of our assignments are overnight (8-12 hours), providing expert newborn care while allowing parents the opportunity to rest and recover. You will be based in private family home caring for their newborn while supporting the new parents in feeding support and education for weeks or months at a time.
You will become a trusted source of guidance and reassurance during one of the most important transitions in a family's life.
Responsibilities
You'll provide compassionate, evidence-based newborn care by:
- Caring for newborns overnight, including feeding, diapering, settling, soothing, and monitoring
- Supporting breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, and newborn feeding plans
- Following and educating families on current safe sleep recommendations
- Helping establish healthy, age-appropriate sleep routines
- Monitoring newborn well-being and communicating concerns appropriately
- Providing emotional support and practical education to new parents
- Completing nursery-related duties associated with newborn care
- Maintaining detailed overnight care notes for families
- Working professionally, respectfully, and confidentially within clients' homes
- Following current best practices in newborn and postpartum care
- Adhering to safe sleep guidelines
Qualifications
We're looking for professionals who have:
- At least 2 years of recent newborn and/or postpartum experience within the last 3 years
- Professional experience as an RN, RPN, LPN, Midwife, Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, or similar newborn care professional
- Current CPR-C certification (or equivalent such as PALS or PEARS) (must be renewed annually)
- A current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain one) (must be renewed annually)
- Legal authorization to work in Canada (no sponsorship available)
- A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle is an asset
