Position Summary
The Grocery Clerk is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the store by ensuring shelves are fully stocked, products are fresh and well-presented, and customers receive excellent service. This role contributes to a clean, safe, and efficient shopping environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays in an organized and timely manner.
- Rotate product to ensure freshness and minimize waste (FIFO practices).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation and sales floor.
- Receive and verify deliveries as needed, ensuring accuracy and proper handling.
- Maintain overall store cleanliness, including aisles, storage areas, and backrooms.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the Store Manager promptly.
- Adhere to all Provincial and Federal food safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers and responding to inquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support the overall success of the store.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and move products (up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs]).
- Attention to detail, particularly with product rotation and cleanliness.
- Basic understanding of food safety practices is an asset.
