About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Technology Architect specializing in Mainframe Performance and Capacity Management to support large-scale enterprise infrastructure. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, driving day-to-day operations, project-related workload planning, software upgrades, and post-migration activities. You will collaborate closely with internal IT teams and external hardware/software vendors to optimize computing infrastructure and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance & Capacity Support: Review and analyze mainframe resource and capacity data to maximize the efficiency of computing infrastructure and IMS/DB2 subsystems.
- Planning & Assessment: Author and update capacity plans; prepare capacity assessments for application development and infrastructure teams regarding project-related workload changes.
- Incident & Problem Management: Provide daily operational support, incident analysis, resolution, and prevention. Design procedures and best practices using IBM and ISV online tools.
- Disaster Recovery: Participate in Mainframe DR Hardware installation projects, actively engage in periodic disaster recovery exercises, and maintain systems readiness.
- Collaboration & Vendor Management: Work directly with hardware and software vendors on technical solutions; collaborate with IT Operations, application development, and production support teams.
- Decommissioning & Migrations: Provide strategic migration and decommissioning support for mainframe software, program products, and networking components.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience providing oversight and support for Tier 4 mainframe infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing Mainframe Performance and Capacity for large-scale data center uplifts, hardware/software migrations, and transitions.
- In-depth knowledge of modern Data Centre service models and contemporary architecture approaches.
- Strong background in change management and technical documentation writing.
- Ability to provide on-call/standby support when required and strictly adhere to SLA metrics.
Pay: $90.00-$115.00 per hour

- Do you have hands-on experience with interactive capacity management tools such as MICS, RMF, and other ISV tools?
- Are you proficient in working with SMF data and utilizing SAS Programming for mainframe reporting?
- Have you performed complex calculations to estimate workload impacts in terms of MIPS and/or MSUs across multi-partitioned environments?
- Do you have a firm understanding of IBM Mainframe CPU concepts, including zIIP utilization, CBUs, and Capacity on Demand (CoD)?
- Do you have past experience reconciling mainframe billing for ISV workloads and identifying CPU cost-savings opportunities?
