Maintenance Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to join our hotel team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department, ensuring that the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained in a safe, efficient, and reliable condition.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and previous experience in building maintenance, hotel engineering, or a related field. This position requires both leadership and hands-on technical skills, as the Supervisor will supervise maintenance activities while also assisting with troubleshooting and repairs when required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and assign daily work to the Maintenance team.
- Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for hotel facilities, equipment, and building systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, equipment rooms, and other hotel facilities to identify maintenance issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems as required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guest rooms and other hotel departments to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, hot water systems, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and other building equipment.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documents, and electrical/mechanical schematics.
- Coordinate and follow preventive maintenance schedules through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), where applicable.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
- Supervise and support maintenance staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing on-the-job training.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, work orders, and parts inventory.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers when specialized repairs or inspections are required.
- Assist with purchasing and maintaining appropriate inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Ensure compliance with hotel safety policies, workplace safety regulations, and applicable building and maintenance standards.
- Respond to emergencies and urgent facility issues as required.
- Weld, fabricate, or perform other general maintenance work when necessary.
- Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to resolve facility-related issues efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Previous experience in hotel engineering, building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and building-system problems effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and maintenance procedures.
- Experience with CMMS or other maintenance/work-order systems is an asset.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills are an asset.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, evenings, or respond to emergencies when required.
- Must be physically capable of lifting equipment/materials and performing maintenance tasks as required.
- Previous hotel experience is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Mandarin is an asset.
Education
- Secondary School (preferred)
- Technical certification is an asset
Experience
- Maintenance / Facilities Maintenance: 3 years (preferred)
- Supervisory experience: 1 year (preferred)
- Hotel Engineering experience: an asset
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
