Reporting to the Manager of Service Development, the Senior Transit Scheduler is responsible for providing leadership for the coordination and alignment of city-wide transit scheduling for current and future transit use throughout the City of Winnipeg. This includes strategic planning, coordination with the operational and planning teams within Transit plus analysis of data to ensure service levels are met and changes made to reflect operational and ridership needs.
As the Senior Transit Scheduler, you will:
- Manage the personnel and workflow of the Transit Scheduling Branch.
- Manage the creation of regular updates to transit schedules.
- Manage the analysis of existing transit schedules.
- Development of future Transit planning opportunities

Your education and qualifications include:
- University Degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Data Analysis, Computer Science or related fields. May consider a combination of related education (minimum Univ/College diploma in a related field) and related experience.
- Masters in above educational areas is an asset.
- 8-10 years of experience in Transportation related fields, i.e. Urban transit systems, Logistics, etc.
- Significant experience in planning and scheduling, preferably including public transportation or related fields.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience including planning, organizing, directing, motivating and managing team members.
- Experience in transportation policy development would be an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills – including the ability to respond to questions in tense situations with little to no preparation, and to speak to various audiences including professional audiences, political audiences, media and members of the general public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with varying levels of the organization including internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a team environment as both a member and leader of a team.
- Experience providing strategic advice, leadership and guidance to Senior Management including complex issues.
- Ability to lead change initiatives, navigate complex environments and influence desirable outcomes through positive and collaborative relationship management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making, based on rigorous data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to create reports using complex data and present the information in a simplified format to decision makers.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) is required. Experience with scheduling software would be an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Comprehensive understanding of the City’s political and administrative structure and its strategic goals and policies is an asset.
- French bilingual would be an asset.
