Community Living Kingston and District (CLKD) is seeking to hire a candidate for the dynamic position of Maintenance Supervisor. This is a permanent full-time position that falls outside of the organization’s bargaining unit and reports to the Manager, Properties.
The Maintenance Supervisor provides hands‑on leadership and coordination of day‑to‑day maintenance operations across CLKD‑owned and operated properties. The position reports directly to the Manager of Properties and provides cross-functional support to the Manager of Business Administration, collaborating closely on maintenance planning, asset oversight, and operational coordination.
The role bridges front‑line maintenance work and the operational oversight provided by management by supervising bargaining unit maintenance staff, coordinating work plans, supporting compliance and safety requirements, and contributing to efficient, high‑quality property upkeep. Responsibilities include maintaining building systems, grounds, the assigned agency vehicle, and agency-owned equipment to ensure all assets are safe, functional, and well maintained.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and prioritize daily maintenance activities for facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment.
· Supervise and direct the Maintenance Technician, including task assignments, coaching, and oversight of work quality.
· Provide input into employee scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary matters in collaboration with management.
· Perform hands‑on building and equipment maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance that is beyond the scope of the Maintenance Technician role and / or non-routine as required.
· Oversee inspection, servicing, and basic repair of agency‑owned equipment, tools, and machinery.
· Support management by monitoring compliance with health and safety requirements and reporting hazards or incidents.
· Assist with preparing for and supporting external inspections (e.g., fire safety, HVAC, equipment servicing) and ensure follow‑up actions are completed.
· Identify maintenance, equipment, and safety issues and escalate recommendations to the Manager as needed.
· Coordinate vendor and contractor services as directed.
· Maintain accurate maintenance, safety, and equipment service records, including tracking/closing work orders.
· Support grounds maintenance, snow removal, and on‑call or seasonal operational needs.
· Communicate and follow-up effectively with internal stakeholders regarding maintenance schedules and service impacts.
· Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials, and identify replenishment needs.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to complete all other required agency, safety, and regulatory training.
· Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
· Valid full G Ontario driver’s license and ability to operate agency vehicles with attachments.
· Post‑secondary training in facilities, trades or related fields is an asset.
· Trade certification or 3-5 years of progressive experience in building, facilities, or equipment maintenance is an asset.
· Current ladder training, Work at Heights certification and First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain and maintain.

· Demonstrated experience providing direction or supervision to staff.
· Practical experience maintaining tools, mechanical equipment, and powered machinery.
· Strong working knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance, and equipment operation.
· Ability to diagnose maintenance and equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective action.
· Strong organizational skills to supervise multiple sites, assets, and competing priorities.
· Solid computer skills, including email and electronic work‑order or maintenance tracking systems.
· Established track record of excellent work attendance.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the need to interact with persons served, families, staff, contractors, and tradespeople on a regular basis and clear written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to exercise mature judgment and sensitivity in supporting people with disabilities.
· Demonstrated core competencies in the areas of advocating for others, collaboration, creative problem solving and decision making, fostering independence in others, initiative, resilience and interpersonal relationships and respect.
Working Conditions:
· Significant physical activity includes lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and operation of hand and power tools.
· Travel between multiple agency sites using the assigned fleet vehicle.
· Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and mechanical equipment as part of regular duties.
Hours of Work:
· Note that this position is intended to work 40 hours per week, generally weekdays, Monday to Friday. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required based on operational needs, as determined by the Manager, Properties. Work schedules and operating hours may vary in response to departmental and organizational requirements.
Salary and Benefits: $69,700 to $75,774 annually. CLKD also provides a competitive benefits and time off package.
