The Township of West Lincoln is looking for enthusiastic, certified Group Fitness Instructors to join our Recreation Team. If you are passionate about health and wellness and enjoy creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging fitness experience, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will plan and deliver group fitness classes for participants of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels. We are looking for instructors who can deliver high-quality programs while bringing energy, creativity, and new ideas to expand our recreation offerings.
These are part time casual positions with hours based on program schedules and participant enrollment. We welcome applications from instructors certified to teach a variety of fitness programs and encourage innovative program ideas that support the health and wellness of our community.
What You’ll Do
· Plan, lead, and instruct engaging group fitness classes
· Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants
· Promote safe exercise practices and monitor participant wellbeing throughout each class
· Adapt exercises to accommodate varying fitness levels, abilities, and participant needs
· Demonstrate proper techniques and provide clear verbal instruction and guidance to participants
· Clean, store and maintain program equipment following each class to ensure equipment remains in good working condition and is ready for future use
· Evaluate participant feedback and program outcomes, collaborate with Recreation staff to enhance existing programs and introduce new class offerings
What You’ll Bring
· Post Secondary Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related discipline
· Current and valid Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS) or Personal Training certification from a recognized organization (e.g., CanFitPro, Ontario Fitness Council, CSEP)
· Current Standard First-Aid and CPR-C certification
· Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
· Valid Drivers Licence for travel between locations
· 1+ years of experience delivering instructional programs to diverse demographics and age groups in a public or community setting
· Proven ability to safely modify instruction for varying ages, fitness levels, and physical abilities within a single session
