Nanaimo Foodshare is looking for an enthusiastic, organized Food Skills Workshop Instructor to lead hands-on cooking workshops for all ages year round. You’ll help the community build cooking skills, access local nutritious food, and connect through shared food experiences.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead in-person and online cooking sessions and workshops sometimes in afternoon or evening
- Create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment
- Work with volunteers and guest facilitators for specialty topics (fermentation, sourdough, small-scale farming)
- Plan menus, and shop for program supplies
- Adapt activities for different ages, abilities, and learning styles
- Maintain safe food storage and kitchen practices
- Keep program records
What You Bring:
- Passion for food, cooking, and community learning
- Knowledge of food prep, preservation, nutrition, and kitchen safety
- Strong communication and group facilitation skills
- Budgeting and meal planning skills
- Reliable, organized, and collaborative
- Comfort leading in person and online
Requirements:
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
- Google Drive experience is an asset
