RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
Under the supervision of the Manager Finance Operations and Compliance, the incumbent will work for the Finance Division and get exposed throughout the mandate to the full scope of the roles and responsibilities within the accounting department and support the team members in multiple initiatives and projects.
General Duties
- Reviews, validates, codes and processes invoices and payment requisitions, ensuring compliance to granting agency rules, RI policies and procedures and in accordance with government statutory requirements regarding sales taxes.
- Enters transactions in the accounting system Virtuo, ensures that data is recorded accurately and in a timely manner for the weekly check run.
- Validates payment terms to ensure payment will be generated at the correct time
- Review vendors statements on outstanding payables and resolve invoicing issues and discrepancies,
- Prepare and process invoices,
- Analyse various account balances (customers, pre-paid, assets and obligations) and
- Perform Journal entries under supervision of senior accountants.

Education: Student of CEGEP or University level
Work Experience: No experience required
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of oral and written French is required.
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
- Student in accounting
- Sound knowledge of general office routines,
- Detail-oriented,
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office,
- Autonomous,
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Additional information
Status : Temporary Full-time, June to end of August.
Pay Scale: $16.60 - $27.09. Commensurate with education and work experience.
Work Shift: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m., Mondays to Fridays.
Work Site: 2155 Guy street, Downtown Montreal. Hybrid.
