Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Produce Manager to oversee the daily operations of our produce department. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for quality produce. The Produce Manager will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving sales through effective merchandising and marketing strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of retail management, team supervision, and customer service excellence to ensure the department's success.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the produce department team, including recruiting, training, and developing staff to ensure high performance and excellent customer service.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering, purchasing, and stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Oversee pricing strategies, merchandising displays, and promotional activities to maximize sales and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, sanitation regulations, and company policies across the department.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and foster a welcoming shopping environment.
- Maintain accurate recordkeeping including payroll, sales reports, bookkeeping, and administrative documentation.
- Implement marketing initiatives to increase store traffic and promote produce specials.
- Monitor departmental budgets and assist with store management tasks as needed to support overall business objectives.
Skills
- Proven leadership experience in retail management or supermarket environments with supervising responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in basic math for pricing and budgeting purposes.
- Experience in recruiting, training & development, sales management, and team building.
- Knowledge of customer service best practices along with phone etiquette skills.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and perform bookkeeping tasks effectively.
- Skills in marketing strategies to promote the produce department.
- Familiarity with retail sales techniques, store management principles, and promotional planning.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently under pressure.

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
