In-Home Special Education Tutor-Mentor - Orleans, Ottawa
We are currently hiring experienced in-home Tutor-Mentors in Orleans, Ottawa to support elementary-aged students with a range of learning, developmental, and communication needs.
The Tutor-Mentor Position
At TutorBright, our tutors are also mentors, which is why we call this position Tutor-Mentor. Tutor-Mentors help students strengthen their academic skills while also building confidence, independence, resilience, and a more positive relationship with learning.
Our Tutor-Mentors create engaging and supportive sessions that are adapted to each student's individual strengths, needs, and learning style.
What We Are Looking For
-Experience working with children with special education needs
-Experience supporting children on the autism spectrum
-Familiarity with language, communication, behavioural, or developmental needs
-A patient, calm, encouraging, and consistent approach
-The ability to adapt activities and instructions for different learners
-Strong communication skills
-Reliable transportation to students' homes in Orleans
-Current or completed university or college education
Preferred Educational or Professional Background
It would be especially helpful if you are studying or have completed education in one of the following areas:
-Psychology
-Education or teachers' college
-Early childhood education
-Child and youth care
-Behavioural science
-Developmental services
-Speech-language sciences
-Special education
-A related field involving child development or learning support
Tutoring Requirements
Tutor-Mentors should be comfortable supporting:
-Kindergarten to Grade 8 Math
-Kindergarten to Grade 8 English
-Students with special education needs
-Students with autism, language delays, or communication needs

Sessions are typically one hour long and take place in students' homes in Orleans.
