What You’ll Do
As part of the Mechanical Engineering Department the Engineering Drafting Technician position is part of the overall team for the design, development, production, and operation of Uncrewed Vehicle Systems with respect to the overall systems developed and maintained for Aerial, Surface, Control Stations, Test Equipment, and Payloads as part of the QTSC product families.
General Responsibilities & Duties
Advanced technical expertise within the 3d modeling & drafting discipline area with the primary focus on mechanical design, mechatronics and electronics interfaces and assembly design activities
Scope of work involves 3-D modelling and creation of 2D drawings for parts and assemblies of products and subsystems
Develops their work plans for agreement their work tasks
Creating engineering technical publications including drawings, schematics,
Recommendations for Mechanical Engineering process improvements
Mostly critical deadlines for subsystems & systems drawings
What You Bring
Education & Professional Membership:
Post-Secondary Engineering/Technical Program
Work Experience:
3-7 years in the Design and Development of products with 3D modelling systems
Experience in avionics, marine, vehicular military systems, and/or communication equipment.
Essential Skills:
Design for integration of multiple engineering disciplines
Basic mechanical system and harsh environment design
Advanced Parametric Modelling including 2D& 3D Drafting
Engineering analysis (stress, thermal, vibration, fatigue)
FEA modeling, interpretation, and validation,
Technical documentation and drawing quality control
Additional Assets Skills:
GD&T application (ASME Y14) and functional dimensioning
Autodesk Inventor & PDM software (Autodesk Vault)
Basic Electronic knowledge
Metal fabrication knowledge
Bacis Elctronic Circuit Design & Analysis
Security Requirements
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the Government of Canada security clearance required for the position
Must be eligible for and maintain a clear background check, including criminal record screening, as required for security clearance
