The Toucan is seeking experienced Part-Time Line Cooks with a strong background in breakfast and brunch service to join our busy downtown restaurant kitchen. While breakfast experience is essential, this position is not limited to morning shifts, and candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts as required by the needs of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items efficiently and consistently while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and food safety. This position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure, and contribute positively as part of a hardworking and accountable kitchen team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, specifications, and quality standards.
- Complete daily prep lists and ensure all stations are fully stocked and service-ready.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area at all times.
- Follow all food safety, health, and workplace safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing inventory using proper food handling procedures.
- Work efficiently during high-volume breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner services.
- Contribute to a positive and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous breakfast and brunch cooking experience is required (available shifts are not limited to brunch shifts).
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a high-volume kitchen.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Availability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Compensation: Hourly wage plus tips.
