Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our manufacturing and construction team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years experience in the steel construction industry, must possess a valid CWB welding certificate in all position stick & 2 position MIG, and have a proven track record of fabricating structural steel. This role involves working closely with the Production Manager to ensure quality and on-time delivery, working closely with with their welding team and ensuring safety and best practices, working with complex schematics, operating power tools, and performing precise measurements to ensure high-quality production standards. Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication and assembly processes with your team
- Operate and maintain machinery such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and welding equipment (MIG and stick welding)
- Perform rigging tasks for lifting and positioning heavy components using cranes or forklifts
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other measuring instruments to ensure accurate fabrication
- Conduct welding operations including MIG, stick, and general welding tasks for various metal components
- Plan builds and assemble structural elements according to blueprints
- Contribute to production efficiencies and best practices
- Installation of steel components on job sites as required
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols related to construction and manufacturing sites
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing routine maintenance on equipment
Qualifications
- Valid CWB welding certifications in 2 position MIG and all position Stick
- Proven experience building assemblies according to blueprints in a manufacturing welding shop with minimum 5 years experience
- Team player, able to multitask and assist The production Manager meeting daily production requirements
- Mechanical knowledge of machinery operation such as plasma cutters, press brakes, cranes, forklifts, and hand/power tools
- Ability to perform basic math calculations relevant to fabrication dimensions and measurements
- Familiarity with steel construction
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to rigging, crane operation, welding, machining, and construction sites
- Experience with calipers, schematics interpretation, assembly work, and basic troubleshooting is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Valid Drivers license and transportation to/from the shop location
