Since 1972, Fritz-Alder Precast has been producing precast concrete products, leading the way through innovation, quality, and precision. As Fritz-Alder continues to grow, we are seeking a full-time, skilled, and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our team.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, methodical, and committed to getting every piece right, every time. This role requires working in an active precast manufacturing environment, including Wetcast and Hollowcore operations, with regular exposure to outdoor yard conditions. The Quality Technician plays a critical role in ensuring all products meet CSA standards, engineered drawings, and internal quality requirements.
This position is responsible for performing material inspections, pre- and post-pour checks, concrete testing, and documentation, while working closely with production teams, engineers, and supervisors to identify issues and support corrective actions. A strong focus on safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine quality inspections on incoming materials including concrete, steel, and hardware
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and piece tickets
- Conduct pre-pour and post-pour inspections for Hollowcore, Wetcast, and finished products
- Perform fresh concrete testing in accordance with company and CSA requirements
- Independently break concrete cylinders and record results
- Inspect rework, repairs, and changes across multiple production disciplines
- Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs, and follow up on corrective actions
- Maintain accurate inspection logs, test results, and quality records
- Prepare and submit documentation required for audits, certifications, and product accreditations
- Enter inspection and testing data into company systems (e.g., Eliplan, Tracker)
- Communicate quality concerns clearly with supervisors, engineers, and production teams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to mix design, processes, and workmanship
- Promote and comply with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Basic math, measurement, and documentation skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the precast plant, or minimum 2 years’ experience in construction, or similar to a precast concrete manufacturing environment
- Ability to work outdoors and in an active production setting
- Educational background in Civil or Construction Engineering (preferred)
- ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician (preferred)
- Familiarity with CSA certification programs and audit processes (preferred)

- Hours: 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday (weekend work as required)
