OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Engagement the Wellness Program Supervisor will support the team of Wellness Program Facilitators both in our Southeast Communities and in Winnipeg. The Wellness Program Supervisor will lead the team as well as participate in service delivery of programming. The Wellness team will partner with community leadership and partnered organizations to deliver activities aimed at children and youth in our Care Programs. The Wellness team will work alongside our partners in service to improve the experiences of children, Elders and families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the Supervision of the Wellness Program reporting to the Director of Engagement.- Ensure Wellness Program Facilitators comply with Program directives/ goals and manage performance evaluations.
- Provide regular mentoring to Wellness Program Facilitators while carrying out their programing.
- Assist in creating procedures for the Wellness team and identify training and development needs.
- Review, correct and approve time sheets, mileage with Wellness Program Facilitators and submit to finance by set financial cycle deadlines.
- Complete monthly statistics and updates for Director of Engagement.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate programs and resources aimed to promote recreation and wellness amongst First Nations Children and Youth.
- Establish positive and effective partnerships with communities, resources and service collaterals on and off reserve.
- Provide notice of programing to all collaterals in a timely fashion.
- Plan and host activities and events that are responsive to community needs and strengths, for the purpose of supporting healthy recreation and community engagement.
- Practice inclusion, includes all community members in events and encourages SAI homes to engage with others at community events.
- Maintain and update the Program budget and coordinate the purchase of food and activity related supplies for the team.
- Develop, administer and continue to evolve the program while building positive working relationships with community and partnered organizations.
- Promote health and wellness, which will help children & youth thrive physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
- Work closely with the Running White Wolves Youth Council to engage local community members to help participate in facilitating programs.
- Complete documentation and reports, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B3-5 years of direct experience working with children, youth and families.
- 2-3 years of experience with direct supervision experience.
- Must be willing to regularly travel to the eight (8) Southeast communities.
- Training and/or professional experience working in child development.
- Knowledge and experience working with our Southeast First Nations communities.
- Personal experience successfully supporting the wholistic wellness of children and young people and families.
- Strong inter-personal communication skills and able to work as a team.
- Personable and approachable, with the capacity to build effective working relationships.
- Ability to apply a strengths-based approach to working with people with diverse life experiences.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of First Nations perspectives, culture, and philosophies.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak Anishinaabe an asset.
- Must be resourceful with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Must have a clear child and adult abuse registry checks, criminal record check with vulnerable sector search and PCC, required.
- Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle with a satisfactory driver abstract, required.
