At Everyday Micros Farm
Everyday Micros Farm is a small indoor urban farm dedicated to producing high-quality, nutrient-rich microgreens, herbs and edible flowers year-round growing for professional chefs, home cooks and health specialists in Burlington, ON. We utilize sustainable farming practices to cultivate a wide variety of microgreens, herbs and edible flowers 365 days a year even through the harsh Canadian winter.
Availability Needed
You can anticipate working 4-12 hours a week likely on Tuesdays and Thursdays to start. Your shift days, length and time may change based on the farm needs and what season it is.
About the role
We are a small but nimble team looking for some additional help harvesting at our farm. We are looking for an eager microgreens harvester who is energized by working in a fast paced start up environment. As a microgreens harvester, you will be focused on cutting and preparing microgreens, herbs and edible flowers for delivery. This includes but not limited to harvest preparation and clean up.
This role is for you if:

- Experience in farming, gardening, kitchens, or physical labour is a plus—but not required
As a microgreens harvester you should be able to:
- Cut and prepare microgreens to meet the standards held by your manager
- Adjusts harvesting technique depending on crop you are harvesting
- Follows health and safety protocols
- Work at a fast pace to me the time required by your manager
- Maintains highest quality crop goes into the packaging (no discolouration, damaged stems or leaves in package)
- Can cut to customized stem lengths and leaf size at request from chefs with minimal guidance
- Can cut all varieties we offer (microgreens, herbs, edible flowers)
- Independently blends mixes in larger batches with minimal guidance
- Accurately weigh amounts for each product size we offer
- Uses harvesting practices that helps extend the shelf life of our products (i.e. stand up the micros, do not press down)
- Seams of packaging is clean and crisp, not plant matter is caught in between the packaging
- Labels are consistently straight and best before date applied accurately, no air bubbles underneath the label
- Organize and remove compost efficiently into bins
Cleaning and sanitization
All tools are clean and maintained to meet our health and safety protocols
- Surfaces are clean, disinfected and wiped down before and after farm tasks
- Harvesting tools are put away after harvesting
- Trays are sorted and washed in a timely manner (add metric here)
- Floors are vacuumed and mopped efficiently
- Seed bins are put away promptly
- Tools are stored away nicely in designated spot
- Working areas are clean, tidied up and tools put away after use

- Cut and prepare microgreens to meet the standards held by your manager
- Meet the time and pace requirements for harvesting as directed by your manager
- Be on your feet the whole shift- this is an active job

- You’re a team player but can stay focused independently when needed
In the interview, you should be able to demonstrate these qualifications
- Must be eligible to legally work in Canada
- Valid Ontario G or G2 driver's licence. You must have the ability to travel between farm sites during working hours.
- The ability to travel between multiple work locations during the workday
- You must be able to get yourself to the farm locations on time ready to work
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Previous experience in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field is a bonus, not required
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Effective communication and ability to work as a team
- Experience in farming, gardening, kitchens, or physical labour is a bonus but not required
