HACCP Coordinator
A well-established food distribution company in the East End of Montreal is seeking a highly motivated HACCP Coordinator to join its Quality Assurance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and continuously improving the company's Food Safety Management System.
This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about food safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The HACCP Coordinator will work closely with warehouse operations and management to ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, update, and continuously improve the SQF/HACCP Food Safety Management System, including policies, procedures, records, and documentation.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with SQF requirements, Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), and Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) requirements.
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, including SQF certification audits, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
- Monitor pre-operational and operational inspections, sanitation programs, pest control activities, and calibration of measuring equipment.
- Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective and preventive actions, and follow up to ensure effectiveness.
- Coordinate imported product inspections and serve as the primary liaison with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
- Train and coach employees on HACCP principles, SQF requirements, regulatory compliance, and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
- Promote a strong food safety culture by working collaboratively with warehouse supervisors and management.
- Manage customer quality and food safety complaints, including returns, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve food safety systems, procedures, and operational processes.
- Perform other quality assurance and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- College diploma (DEC) in Food Processing, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in quality assurance within the food industry.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP principles and at least one GFSI-recognized food safety standard (SQF, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000).
- Thorough understanding of SFCR and CFIA regulatory requirements.
- Experience with quality management systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Approximately 60% of the role is spent on the warehouse floor conducting inspections, audits, validations, and operational follow-up.
- Approximately 40% of the role involves documentation, reporting, training, and administrative responsibilities.
- Work is performed in a refrigerated warehouse environment, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment.
