Overview
The City seeks a Temporary Full-Time Parking Patrol Officer to complement their team. This individual will deliver top-notch customer service to the community while performing enforcement work in ensuring compliance with municipal parking regulations and bylaws. Parking Patrol Officers patrol parking areas and issue citations for parking infractions, provide information to the public on parking regulations and the operations of parking equipment, and prepare routine records related to the work. The work also involves collecting coins from parking equipment, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on related equipment, and communicating any observed problems during patrols, such as signs of vandalism on City property. Evening and weekend work is required as part of the working hours of this position.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of the regulations and bylaws governing traffic and parking within the municipality, and of the municipal street layout.
- Some knowledge of the operation and maintenance of parking equipment.
- Ability to interpret and professionally explain regulations and ability to handle complaints with tact, impartiality, and firmness, demonstrating sound judgement.
- Exceptional customer service, communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
- Ability to walk for long durations and up steep slopes in all types of weather.
- Ability to work cooperatively and amicably in a team environment with a safety-first attitude.
- Ability to successfully pass a Police Information Check.
- Possess and maintain a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent with an acceptable driving record
