Job Description
Job Purpose:
The General Labourer plays a crucial role in our operations, contributing to the efficient and smooth functioning of the warehouse. The General Labourer is responsible for maintaining an organized and well-functioning warehouse environment to support production needs. This role involves a combination of physical tasks, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
General Responsibilities:
- Assembly Operations: Perform assembly tasks based on standardized work instructions and technical drawings. Assemble components or sub-assemblies using hand tools, power tools, and other necessary equipment.- Knowledge in Crimping recommended.
- Quality Control: inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Report any defects, discrepancies, or issues to supervisors for resolution.
- Efficiency and Productivity: Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines. Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of efficiency measures.
- Adhere to Safety Protocols: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work collaboratively with other team members, including engineers, quality control personnel, and production staff, to ensure efficient testing processes and timely resolution of issues.
- Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, standards, and quality assurance requirements. Stay informed about updates and changes to regulations that may impact testing procedure
- Tool Maintenance: Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and report any malfunctions or need for repairs. Follow preventative maintenance schedules for tools and machinery.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including the number of units assembled, any issues encountered, and any corrective actions taken.
- Receiving and Inspection: Receive incoming materials and products, conduct thorough inspections to ensure quality, and accurately record inventory levels; validate slips provided by freight operator/ vendor
- Order Picking and Packing: Fulfill production orders by accurately picking and packing items according to specifications provided by leaders and sales team, ensuring timely delivery to our vendors and customers; ensure goods will be protected from damages in transit.
- Shipping and Dispatch: Prepare outgoing shipments, verify documentation, and coordinate with carriers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries; ensure instructions are followed provided they are given; loading of trucks required as well; Close all orders nightly and have ready for departure the next day (OHS trucks).
- Other duties as required including general maintenance of the warehouse and areas within the manufacturing plant.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant experience is a plus.
- Proven experience in assembly or a similar manufacturing role.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow assembly instructions.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality work.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain certification) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity for handling small components and using hand tools.
- Ability to lift and move objects of moderate to heavy weight.
