Key Responsibilities
- Operate the company delivery truck in a safe and efficient manner
- Load, transport, and unload (where necessary) goods at designated locations
- Verify delivery contents against shipping documents
- Read and consider any special delivery notes, instructions
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and records
- Comply with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues
- Communicate effectively with the company managers, shipping department. and customers
- Deal with route and itinerary changes
- Assist with plant tasks when the delivery schedule is light or completed early for the day
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries
Qualifications
- Valid G driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Previous delivery or commercial driving experience preferred
- Ability to operate forklifts or pallet jacks (asset)
- Strong knowledge of local roads and routes
- Good time management and organizational skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (typically up to 50 lbs or more)
- Comfortable with frequent loading and unloading
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
- Capable of working in various weather conditions
Working Conditions
- Full-time position with possible overtime
- Early morning starts and variable hours depending on delivery schedules
- Work involves both driving and physical labour
