Sereda Farms Ltd. is a family-run irrigated farm near Rolling Hills, Alberta, operated by Kent Sereda and Holly White. We grow hybrid seed canola, durum, grain corn, and dry edible beans. THE ROLE
We’re looking for a reliable, experienced Farm Equipment Operator to join us immediately for the 2026 season. This position runs through to mid-November (end of harvest), with the potential to transition into a permanent full-time role for the right candidate. You’ll play a hands-on role in fieldwork and all harvest operations — working alongside a small, supportive team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Operate farm machinery including tractors, combines, swathers, one-step, and bean combine
- Maintain and operate irrigation equipment
- Perform fieldwork, harvesting, and other field operations
- Ensure all equipment, augers, trucks, and storage bins meet sanitation protocols for certified seed production
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on farm equipment
- Monitor equipment performance and report any mechanical issues promptly
- Assist with general farm duties including grain handling, loading/unloading, and yard work
- Follow all farm safety procedures and operating guidelines
- Work extended hours during harvest season
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Previous experience operating farm equipment (minimum 1 year of experience)
- Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract
- Ability to work independently and manage your time well
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Willingness to work in environments where pesticides are used; pesticide handling may be required if the position becomes permanent
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work extended hours during busy seasons and adapt to changing weather
Assets (not required):
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license
- Familiarity with GPS equipment
Physical requirements:
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Comfortable working at heights, including climbing grain bins and working on pivots
WHAT WE OFFER
- $20–$35/hr based on experience
- Position runs immediately through mid-November, with potential to become permanent full-time
