Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for children in our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, food safety, and providing healthy meals that meet dietary guidelines. This role is essential in ensuring children receive balanced nutrition in a safe and hygienic environment. The Childcare Cook will work closely with staff to plan menus, handle food with care, and serve meals efficiently, contributing to a positive and nurturing atmosphere for young learners.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals that meet nutritional standards and accommodate dietary restrictions for children
- Serve food to children in a friendly and efficient manner, ensuring proper portioning and presentation
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Assist in menu planning and meal scheduling to ensure timely service during designated meal times
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and organizing supplies
- Monitor food inventory levels and communicate needs for restocking ingredients or supplies
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food preparation and service in a childcare setting
Qualifications
- Experience in serving, food preparation, cooking, or food service is preferred; restaurant or kitchen experience is a plus
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
- Strong understanding of meal preparation suitable for children’s nutritional needs
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and safety protocols
- Ability to work collaboratively with childcare staff to ensure smooth meal service operations
- Prior experience working within the food industry or in a childcare environment is advantageous
