At Gordon Barr Limited, we're looking for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator who wants more than another estimating job. What You'll Be Doing
You'll lead the estimating process from start to finish on some of the region's most exciting heavy civil projects.
That means you'll:
- Lead the preparation of competitive tenders for municipal, industrial, commercial, and institutional projects.
- Review drawings and specifications to identify opportunities, risks, and smarter ways to build.
- Develop winning bid strategies alongside company leadership.
- Build strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Complete detailed quantity take-offs, costing, and pricing.
- Review and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Support project managers with seamless turnover from estimating to construction.
- Mentor junior estimators and help strengthen our estimating department.
- Identify value engineering opportunities that improve both quality and profitability.
What You Bring
You know civil construction.
You understand what it takes to build profitable projects—not just low bids.
We're looking for someone with:
- 7+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
- Experience with municipal servicing, underground infrastructure, road construction, earthworks, and site development.
- The ability to read drawings quickly and accurately.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence to work independently while collaborating with project teams.
- Experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
