NorthTech Plumbing & Mechanical is seeking a licensed 313A HVAC Mechanic with a valid G1 Gas Technician Licence to join our growing service team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of a wide range of commercial and industrial HVAC and mechanical systems. This includes heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, hydronic, and gas-fired equipment. The role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent diagnostic abilities, and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.
- Service rooftop units (RTUs), make-up air units (MAUs), air handling units (AHUs), split systems, heat pumps, exhaust systems, fan coil units, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, and associated controls.
- Diagnose and repair gas-fired heating equipment, boilers, furnaces, unit heaters, and hydronic heating systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and mechanical equipment to maximize system reliability and efficiency.
- Install, commission, and test new HVAC equipment, controls, and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control-related issues.
- Perform combustion analysis and system performance testing where applicable.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Complete accurate service reports, inspection records, and work orders.
- Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and internal team members regarding equipment conditions, repair recommendations, and project updates.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.

Qualifications
Required
- 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (Journeyperson) Licence.
- Valid G1 Gas Technician Licence.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience servicing commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
- Strong working knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, and hydronic systems.
- Experience servicing rooftop units, air handling units, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and associated controls.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple service calls.
Preferred
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and DDC controls.
- Experience with high-pressure steam boilers.
- Experience with PLC-based control systems.
- Welding, pipefitting, or additional mechanical trade certifications.
- Refrigerant handling and recovery experience.
Pay: $65.00-$70.00 per hour
