Welgold is seeking an experienced and dependable Assistant Camp Cook & Camp Support to join our camp operations located approximately 30 minutes from Quesnel, BC.
This position provides support to our Head Camp Cook. Prior cooking experience essential. The successful candidate will work alongside the Head Cook during regular shifts and will be fully responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals on the Head Cook's days off. In addition to kitchen duties, the role includes housekeeping and general camp support to help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming camp.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen & Food Service
· Work alongside the Head Camp Cook to prepare nutritious balanced daily breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and baked goods
· Independently manage the kitchen and cover the Head Camp Cook's scheduled days off
· Assist with menu planning, meal preparation, food ordering, and inventory management
· Ensure all food is prepared and stored according to Food Safe standards
· Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen
· Wash dishes and keep kitchen equipment and workspaces clean
Camp Support & Housekeeping
· Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and common spaces
· Wash bedding, remake beds, and prepare rooms for incoming employees
· Restock camp and cleaning supplies
· Empty garbage and recycling and complete garbage runs
· Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming camp environment
· Assist with other camp duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements
· Previous cooking experience is essential. Experience as a camp cook, line cook, chef, kitchen lead, or similar role is strongly preferred.
· Comfortable preparing meals independently for multiple people while maintaining high food quality and presentation.
· Valid Food Safe Certificate (required)
· Previous remote camp experience is considered a strong asset
· Housekeeping or hospitality experience is an asset
· Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are required
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of the kitchen when required
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Excellent attention to cleanliness, food safety, and detail
· Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to help wherever needed
