What you can expect from this position:
Reporting to the Manager, Security Operational Support, this role is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of all SeMS (Security Management Systems) initiatives for the GTAA. The role also includes monitoring security incidents and concerns, conducting gap analyses, and maintaining accurate records within the security management systems.
As an Officer, Security Management Systems, you will:
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of all SeMS (Security Management Systems) initiatives for the GTAA.
- Monitor security incidents/concerns, conduct gap analysis, and maintain records within the security management systems.
- Maintain a summary log of incidents, accidents, and proactive reports, ensuring all irregularities are reported and logged for corrective action.
- Analyze deficiencies to identify trends; lead root cause analysis and develop corrective actions with process owners and security stakeholders.
- Oversee, implement, and administer the SeMS framework, including threat identification, risk management processes, and trend tracking.
- Support business units through the SeMS concern review process and monitor the effectiveness of implemented mitigations.
- Monitor official government publications and collaborate with external agencies to gather security-related information.
- Create the monthly Security Scorecard by analyzing security data and sharing findings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Track and analyze non‑aviation corporate security incidents (e.g., theft, police dispatch, unhoused interventions) using SeMS tools.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of SeMS reporting, documentation, standard operating procedures, and support security-related risk assessments, audits, exercises, and concern review processes.
This unionized position is classified at the Band 6 level, with an hourly wage of $42.97, based on a 37.5 hour work week. If you are the selected candidate, you must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a test.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- Post secondary diploma and/or 5 years of comparable airport experience.
- Experience with Toronto Pearson International Airport airside is an asset.
- Valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain a “D/A” level Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit.
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transport Security Clearance.
Knowledge and skills you bring, that set-you up for success:
- Knowledge of Aeronautics Act and CASRs, ASM, ICAO Annex 17, GTAA security standards/ policies, and industry security best practice.
- Knowledge of analytical, investigative and inspection techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of aerodrome operating procedures and related security requirements.
- Knowledge of the aerodrome and all operating security systems such as access control, vehicle access and GTAA future plans for development and subsequent impact on security operations.
- Skill in studying complex drawings and determining whether there is aerodrome security or operational concerns that need to be addressed.
- Skill in working with data software to create; logs, spreadsheets and charts.
- Understanding on how to logically present data that allows for determination of how to streamline processes for better efficiency.
- General knowledge of Management Systems processes.
