About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Violin & Cello Teacher to join our Edmonton music studio. You will deliver private and small group lessons to students of all ages and skill levels — from complete beginners to advanced players — in a supportive, encouraging, and structured learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver one-on-one and small group violin and/or cello lessons to students ranging from young beginners (ages 4+) to adults
- Design and implement personalised lesson plans tailored to each student's age, goals, and learning pace
- Teach proper technique, posture, bow hold, music theory, sight-reading, and repertoire development
- Track and document student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians
- Prepare students for RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) examinations, recitals, and competitions where applicable
- Maintain a safe, positive, and motivating studio environment
- Participate in studio recitals and events as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Music Performance or Music Education (Bachelor's degree or higher preferred)
- Proficiency in violin and/or cello performance — classical training required
- Minimum 2 years of private or group teaching experience
- Familiarity with RCM curriculum and/or Suzuki method is a strong asset
- Experience teaching children and adults across all skill levels
- Excellent communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
Nice to Have
- Suzuki certification (Violin or Cello)
- Experience teaching online/hybrid lessons
- Ability to teach additional string instruments (viola, bass)
