Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced tutor to support an autistic student with his elementary school education. The ideal candidate will be familiar with individualized learning strategies, alternative communication methods and sensory-sensitive approach to education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one educational support in core elementary subjects (math, reading, writing.
- Adapt and tailor lesson plans to accommodate the student’s unique learning style and communication needs.
- Utilize visual aids, hands-on activities to engage student
- Collaborate with the family and teachers (e.g., speech therapist, occupational therapist) to align educational goals and strategies.
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and engaging learning environment.
- Track and communicate student progress regularly.
Qualifications:
- Background in education, special education, psychology, speech-language pathology, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required with relevant experience).
- Experience working with autistic students.
- Patience, empathy, creativity, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals.
Preferred:
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Flexibility with scheduling and willingness to adapt as needs evolve.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
