Machine Operator
Location: Kitchener, ON
Starting at $21.34/hour + $1.00/hour evening premium
About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Machine Operator to join their production team in Kitchener. In this role, you will operate machinery used to shear, bend, and shape rebar to precise specifications. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality production output while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate shearing, bending, and shaping machines
- Cut rebar to specified lengths and bend into required shapes and angles
- Ensure correct bar sizes, grades, and tags are used for each order
- Manually lift and load up to 50 lbs of rebar into machines regularly
- Untangle and prepare rebar while standing for extended periods (up to 50 lbs handling as required)
- Perform daily pre-use inspections of machinery and complete hazard assessments
- Immediately report any equipment irregularities or safety concerns
- Follow all PPE requirements at all times
- Maintain safe work practices; never bypass machine guards or safety devices
- Clean machines and work areas following proper shutdown and lockout/tagout procedures
- Comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment (preferred)
- Basic math and measurement skills (asset)
- Ability to learn and operate industrial manufacturing equipment
- Physically capable of lifting/moving up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions (may include outdoor exposure)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented
