Kobitex is looking to hire a Junior Accountant. They will be focused on playing an important role in driving our day-to-day financial operations inclusive of accounting, billing, financial reporting and budgeting. This individual would be based in our downtown Toronto offices.
Job Title: Junior Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
- Support all financial operations including accounting, billing, payroll, payables, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and optimize cash flow, payments, and receivables
- Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes
- Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
- Support month-end close process and year-end audit requests
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Analyze financial data to support decision-making and strategic planning
- Effectively communicate and partner with leadership in many aspects of our business
- Work closely with Management on various ad-hoc projects that will improve and maintain the full accounting cycle & accounting functions of the company
- Ad hoc projects as required
Role Requirements:
- Post-Secondary education/Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management; professional accounting designation a plus but not required (CPA, CA, CMA)
- Experience in the chemical industry a nice to have
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as critical thinking and analytical skills
- English proficiency is a must
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including an advanced knowledge of Excel
- Experience using accounting/bookkeeping software (i.e QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite etc); exposure to ERP systems a nice to have
- Ability to gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and propose solutions
- Ability to work closely with a senior management team as well as effectively communicate with people in various roles and functions
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and controls
- Full time role, in office 5 days a week at our Downtown Toronto office
