The Dental Assistant is responsible for maintaining a professional and pleasant atmosphere for the patient while assisting the dentist. S/he must maintain patient confidentiality at all times. His/her job responsibilities are:
- to fully set up the operatory for the procedure
- to seat and prepare the patient for treatment
- to assist the Dentist at chairside: latest radiographs are ready to view or take new radiographs if needed, material and instruments handed to the Dentist as he needs them, suction operated, impressions taken if needed, etc.
- to review charts at the start of the day, confirm all lab cases are present, and huddle with the doctor to confirm treatment, and confirm with front desk re: insurance if there are changes to treatment
- to help the patient “clean up” after the procedure, escort back to the front desk, and hand off to the receptionist with instruction for next appointment
- to clean the operatory after patient leaves, ready for next patient
- to sterilize instruments
- to complete needed lab work
- to regularly inventory and order new supplies
- to make ultrasonic solution, run waterlines and suctions
- to make sure recall rooms are sanitized, and ready to use for emergencies or recalls
Duties:
- Assisting chair-side
- Taking records, impressions, or x-rays
- Using computers to update electronic patient records
- Assisting with lab tasks as needed
- Assisting with front office tasks as needed

Pay: $24.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16.0 – 28.0 per week
