The Living Room
(3–5 days/week | JK–Grade 1 | Toronto Beaches)
The Living Room is looking for a passionate, engaging teacher, guide or coach to join our learning community. We are seeking an individual who can bring subjects to life in ways that children can truly feel, explore, and connect with.
About The Living Room:
At The Living Room, we believe childhood should feel safe, connected, meaningful, and deeply human. We are building a small, relationship-based co-operative learning community for sensitive and slow-to-warm children ages 4–7 that honours emotional development, curiosity, creativity, movement, and nervous system regulation alongside academics.
This is not a traditional classroom.This is a space where children are supported to:
- feel safe in their bodies
- move through anxiety with support (not pressure)
- take healthy risks and build confidence
- connect deeply with nature, self, and others
- develop a true love of learning
We are looking for a warm, grounded, emotionally attuned educator to help co-create this environment.
This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who:

- Creates emotional safety without shame, fear, or rigid control

Responsibilities:
- Co-create and lead a warm, engaging daily rhythm
- Support academic learning through hands-on, meaningful experiences
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families
- Observe and respond to children’s needs with curiosity and care
- Collaborate with parents in a respectful and connected way
- Help create an environment where children feel emotionally safe enough to fully be themselves
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children ages 4–7
- Is calm, grounded, playful, and emotionally attuned
- Can adapt learning to different personalities, sensitivities, and learning styles
- Values connection as the foundation for learning
- Is excited to help build something new and meaningful
- Has experience in education, child development, therapy, coaching, arts education, outdoor education, or related fields
- Traditional teaching credentials are welcomed but not required - the right fit, philosophy, and presence matter deeply to us
Schedule & Details:
- Part-time or full-time (3–5 days/week)
- Small group setting (approximately 8–10 children)
- Parent-supported/co-operative environment
- Located in Toronto’s East End / Beaches area
- Launching Fall 2026
