Reporting to the Manager on site, the Driver’s position is mainly responsible for ensuring the timely removal of waste water as well as delivery of clean potable water to the lodge. MUST have experience in hauling water & sewage. As well, this role involves doing other hauling tasks and some light maintenance duties around the camp as directed by management. The Driver requires a valid Alberta Class 1 drivers license with a clean abstract. The Driver is responsible for performing and documenting pre-trip and post trip inspections. The Driver will also be responsible to perform emergency/minor repairs as well as basic preventative maintenance on the vehicle. There are no automatic vehicles, must drive standard.
We require someone who is a self-starter and self-motivated. This role requires a person who is willing to assist with light maintenance, including some snow removal, sweeping and other tasks assigned. The candidate must be physically fit and able to bend, squat and lift/carry 50 pounds. It is a remote camp location south of Ft. McMurray. Free room and meals while on shift. Rotation is 20/10. Rate is $35/hr. With time & ½ ($52.50) to be paid after 44 hrs per week.
**NOTE- Surmont does not offer transportation to the job site. The candidate must find their own way to Ft McMurray where a staff member can pick them up. If you wish to drive to site that is also available to you .
Job Specifications and Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- VALID Alberta Class1 license
- Clean driving abstract, received within the last 6 months
- Experience with hauling water and sewer
- Ability and willingness to learn how to operate backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, and heavy equipment
- Must be willing and able to complete light maintenance duties around the camp which include snow removal, sweeping, etc..
- Able to work well independently with little supervision.
- Willing to work non-standard hours – dayshift, overnight, weekends, holidays, split or on-call dependent on lodge needs
- Physically fit and able to push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, walk, bend and kneel with ease and without discomfort.
- Adheres to all lodge standards, including Hygiene /Grooming, Health and Safety, and Fire Safety
- Being a TEAM player and willing to assist in other areas if requested
- NO alcohol or drugs on site
