General Labourer - Material Handler (Day Shift - Monday to Friday)
About Us & Job Summary:
Burlington Manufacturing SP Inc. is a sister company of Safety Power Inc., a leading supplier to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft. We have just opened our new Burlington facility and looking for experienced staff to support our fabrication and manufacturing operations.
This position will assist with material handling, basic fabrication tasks, and shop organization. This role is hands-on and works closely with welders, fabricators and operators to ensure efficient production and a safe work environment.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist fabricators and welders with day-to-day production tasks.
- Package, label and prepare finished products for shipping.
- Stage, transfer and relocate raw materials to meet production schedule and demands.
- Load and unload trailers, including completing necessary paperwork in accordance with company specifications.
- Operate basic tools and machinery.
- Prepare materials and components for welding and assembly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production floor, including outside yard.
- Complete production logs and documentation in accordance with company specifications.
- Adhere to all quality protocols and safety policies and procedures.
- Complete all tasks with a strong emphasis on safety.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience within a production/manufacturing, construction or industrial labour environment.
- Forklift experience (counterbalance) highly preferred. Certified license not required but considered a strong asset.
- Comfortable operating required equipment/tools in a safe manner with the ability to readily determine the types needed to complete a task.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work in a team and independently to complete daily activities.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Basic math skills.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Must be physical able to lift and handle heavy objects, including continuous standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing for 8-hour shift.
Job Demands & Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, vibration and metal dust.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
- Required to lift and handle heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.
- Required to wear designated PPE as required (gloves, respirator, safety glasses, safety boots, ear plugs).
- May require overtime, shift work depending on production demand.
