People In Motion - Adaptive Sailing Program in Kelowna is offering summer employment for sailing Companions aged 16 to 30 (through a Summer Student funding initiative) to work with some very special people in beautiful Kelowna, BC. You will spend most of your time sailing on Okanagan Lake with people on a Monday-to-Thursday schedule (4-day work week). We work with people with various challenges. We offer our sailors instruction, companionship, and meaningful opportunities. Our program utilizes a fleet of Martin 16 sailboats and a motorized coach boat.
Responsibilities:
Sailing with our participants, Rig and de-rig the boats, Help maintain the fleet in good working order, Assist with additional activities, fun sails and integrated sailing, Drive power coach boat for safety and instructional purposes.
Pleasure Craft Operator Card (can be attained through us)
Criminal Record Check
Previous work or volunteer experience with vulnerable population is helpful but not necessary for the right individual.
Assets, but not necessary:
Sail Canada (or CYA) instructor/coach certification
CanSail 1,2 or 3
VHF Radio License
Sail Racing experience
Powerboat experience
