We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to join a team in Edmonton. This is a fulltime, in office role in the NW. The ideal candidate is organized, confident communicating with various departments, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Process new hires, rehires, employee changes, and terminations, including Records of Employment (ROEs).
- Complete full-cycle weekly and bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including expense reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all legislative requirements.
- Support Human Resources with the administration of employee benefits and the RRSP program.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to resolve payroll discrepancies and obtain missing payroll information.
- Perform accurate data entry, payroll calculations, and payroll record maintenance.
- Prepare invoices and issue remittances to unions, benefit providers, and for employee garnishments.
- Process company vehicle ticket deductions and other payroll-related adjustments.
- Prepare payroll summaries, reports, and supporting documentation as required.
- Maintain payroll systems by implementing legislative, benefit, and union rate updates.
- Balance payroll records with government remittances, benefit providers, and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare year-end payroll documentation, including T4 processing.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of Canadian payroll experience; 5+ years in a similar role is preferred.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
Preferred
- Experience in the construction industry or a similar small-to-medium-sized business environment.
- Experience processing payroll for unionized employees.
- Experience using Explorer Eclipse ERP.
- Post-secondary education in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
