The Peterborough Regional Device Clinic, located within the Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC) in Peterborough, Ontario, is seeking for an exceptional Registered Nurse to join our team. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to delivering outstanding patient patient care.
KCC is a busy, progressive, fully accredited facility that serves a wide geographic area. We work closely with the Peterborough Regional Health Centre to provide comprehensive diagnostic services. Our clinic offers a broad range of specialized programs including vascular, stroke, diabetes and cardiac care. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position for a Registered Nurse with 2-3 years recent experience in ICD, pacemaker care, acute care or cardiology/telemetry.
Role Summary:
- Provide thorough, competent interrogation and reprogramming of cardiac devices implanted in patients including Pacemakers, Implantable Loop Recorders and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators
- Device interrogations will be completed in both inpatient and outpatient settings as well as remotely monitored patients
- Completion of reports and documentation in the Electronic Health Record as well as reporting acute/urgent issues to Cardiologist and/or other Care Provider
- Collaborate directly with physicians, industry and other device team members
- Monitor supplies & replenish stock as needed
- Other tasks as assigned
- Report to the Device Clinic Team Lead, Clinical Coordinator and Cardiologists as required
Qualifications:
- Experience in ICD and Pacemaker Care and asset
- Current registration with the College of Nurses (CNO) in good standing
- Current member of Registered Nurses of Ontario (RNAO)
- Basic Life Support (CPR); current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) an asset
- Excellent knowledge of ECG interpretation and arrhythmia interpretation
- Excellent knowledge of cardiac medications and commonly associated co-morbidities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a busy workload in a high-volume area.
- Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement.
