Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef with strong knowledge of traditional Portuguese baking and pastry-making. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing authentic Portuguese pastries, desserts, and baked goods while maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and food safety. This role involves creating exquisite pastries, desserts, and baked goods that delight our customers and elevate our establishment’s reputation. The Pastry Chef will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensuring all food safety standards are met while delivering high-quality products consistently.
Duties
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards
- Assist in food preparation for daily service, including measuring ingredients and assembling finished products
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, adhering to food safety regulations
- Package baked goods for retail sale or catering orders with attention to presentation and quality
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate production schedules and ensure timely delivery of items
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying management of shortages or needs
- Uphold high standards of food handling, hygiene, and safety throughout all tasks
Skills
- Proven experience in cake decorating, baking, and pastry arts within a restaurant or bakery setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques specific to the food industry
- Excellent skills in cooking, food handling, and kitchen safety protocols
- Ability to create visually appealing desserts that meet customer expectations
- Experience with food packaging for retail or catering purposes is a plus
- Exceptional customer service skills to interact positively with clients and team members
- Attention to detail in both the aesthetic presentation and quality control of all baked goods
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced culinary environment
